well some guys on the alfa forum sent me these.....

all i can say is id be walking around with a grin for a month after driveing it......and id be hunting for the most exotic cars i could find to SMOKE EM!!!!

The "501" was actually only a 500ci motor available from '70 thru '76, All 500's produced roughly the same HP, but due to GM changing the way it was measured there is a big drop in HP ratings. The 472 was introduced in the '68 model year and was available exclusively for only 2 years than it was offered along side the 500 until '74, the 472 replaced the 429 which was available from 64 thru '67.

yes but what i ment was.....the 472 pre smog heads put onto the 500 block bumps the power ALOT as the smog heads killed the compresion...had a 71 472 with the pre smog heads and MY GOD that thing was an animal..had a 72 eldo with the 500 and that thing was a gutless dog...was later told about the trick of useing the 472 pre smog geads on the 500s
