I think I'm pleasurin' myself but I'm just
Any of the bodyshop/resto guys ever get paint from stateside? The reason I ask is that in an effort to fund Mopar projects, I'm trying to restore some 70s motorcycles and use them as funding. However pre-1979 Honda did not have any of its paint formulas listed. I tried one shop that "knew" they could mix it. Well $150 later and its nowhere near the original.
A guy stateside claims he has the formulas and the feedback he has gotten so far seems to bear this out. The problem is that he treats the border like a dead raccoon and refuses to send into Canada, citing too many hassles. Well just starting off on this quest has already tossed up a few roadblocks. Seems paint is listed as a hazardous product and is verboten or frowned upon for shipping.
Bottom line, any of you guys get paint across the border? And close doesn't cut it. These vintage bike guys make the Mopar fanatics look like pikers as far as adherence to correctness. And since there's even a smaller niche market than Mopars the loss of coins for incorrect paint makes the rest of the project a loss. 99.5% correct is as much as a miss as 10% correct.
*EDIT* it should be noted that this is cans (pints) of paint - not aerosol cans which may as well be weapons grade plutonium.
