No North BAY for me. cuda still broke

the "show me the money tour" is a collective point series of 5 events total points. now i only have 4 races to collect points.

CUDA still bugging us, but i think were onto something. triying something tommorrow morning.

i called up a crew cheif of a race team i know & asked if he could lend an ear & give me some of his wisdome.

as soon as he heard cuda run, he set the tiiming & got right into the fuel delivery system. set up the carb & said the problem is either my fuel pump or a slight restriction in the fuel line between the pump & carb. (he seems positive)

between the pump & carb is a moroso cool can with an aluminum core. going to bypass the cool can tomorrow & if that fails off with the pump. i hope i hope i hope.

Check the fuel pump pushrod for wear. It should be 3 1/4 inches long. The pushrod should have .300 inches travel to operate the pump properly (full stroke). If the rod is the right length but the stroke is less than .300.....then the lobe on the cam is worn down.

Get a pressure guage on the fuel line and see what you've got at idle and whether or not it drops as rpm's are increased. It could also be a fuel volume issue as well....pressure might be fine but it's not getting enough fuel at higher engine speeds.

Good luck Greg as I hate to hear of this. Gotta have the Cuda running good. When I put the Dart together I removed the factory sock in the tank and installed and inline filter right out of the tank just before the Holley red pump we use. I also have another inline fuel filter at the carb and its still the 5/16 stock fuel line. I hope you get it figured out. Ron

OK i'm waving the white flag. we give up. i was out on business today but my tech wrenched on cuda all day. he bypasses the cool box & no change. i had ryan buy a new holly blue pump. install the electric pump no change.

i'm sending cuda out 1st thing in AM. big race weekend but i'm having my doubts.

Greg, you still got that alternator cut off switch wired on there ? Seems to me the car was running good before you added it into the loop. Next thing i'd try is rewiring the car back to the way it was and disconnecting that switch and all of it's associated wiring.

Just thinking out loud [smilie=e: I hope ya get it fixed.....planning on going to the track on Sunday with Chris and it would be nice to see Cuda running for the $$$$.

Ron

the alternator cut off switch was just wired in. the problem was already there.i installed the switch when we replaced the voltage reg, plug & alternator. also ran new power wire to the alternator & MSD6AL. both those wires are completely seperated & run off different directions from a common power source.

thanks ron

chuck a fuel cell in it,or degunk that tank and run new lines,McPhereson here in town can rod that fuel tank,,,are you running the return line?,mopar BB's are famous for vapor lock this time of year/humid hot weather, I'd hate to see you put 2 wooden clothes pins on the fuel line and the problem go away,it wouldn't be the first time fuel problems were cured that way,,,I have gotten a few cars home that way, maybe a clogged main or return fuel line, that fuel could be boiling in the lines if it isn't returning as fast as it's pumping.a cool can won't cure it,if it's restricted already,,

ist off i think CUDA is fixed.

time trials friday for all classes & qualifing for the pro mods.

i was out of touch most of the day. but as said i had cuda flat bedded to a shop at 7 AM. got a cel call at noon saying it was fixed by adjusting the timing & he was having CUDA towed back to my shop.

not a chance it was fixed by timing i thought to myself. got back to the shop at 3.30 & took it for a rip. ran just as if you were pumping the throttle pedal up & down to the floor.

luck sometimes comes into play. another friend just happed to come by & said i've got my 850 holly in my truck want to try it. [smilie=e: swapped carb & CUDA came to life. just had to adjust WOT & idle. he had no idea of jetting but the damb thing works.

race weekend......fingers crossed.
