New FCA-UAW contract headed for ratification

According to early reports in the Detroit News, United Auto Workers union members have apparently ratified a new four-year contract with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Union members voted at their local halls Tuesday and Wednesday.
If the reported trend continues, this second proposal will pass with a much higher margin than the 2011 contract. That agreement squeaked by with a bare majority only after union leadership, including then-president Bob King and the late General Holiefield,did a lot of arm-twisting.
While the second proposed deal still lacks some of the things rank-and-file members wanted, such as restoration of the 25% cap on the number of Tier 2 workers and definite product commitments, it does lay out an eight-year path to wage parity with Tier 1 workers and details job changes for the next four years.
