Recently, Robert “Bob” Nardelli, who was put in charge of Chrysler Group under Cerberus, patted himself on the back in a long LinkedIn article. Against all evidence to the contrary, he credited himself with Chrysler’s return.
You can look at Allpar’s news articles from 2007and2008 to see how Chrysler fell into bankruptcy, and how Nardelli helped by foolishly slashing the wrong kind of costs — cutting engineers and capabilities and outsourcing to exactly the wrong suppliers. This is the kind of behavior that brought the board of Home Depot to pay him tens of millions toleave before his contract was over.
