My '49

XLR8R

exhalted master of his nuts
...has been in storage for a year. Guess I should go fire the old girl up and take her for a boot. Wonder if she will start? Got the battery here, so I will start a trickle charge on her today...that should help. Take some air for any low tires, and I will pray from there.

I can't believe you haven't had it out more. That thing is a cool cruiser. If I had extra garage space and money, I'd love to have something like that.

Speaking of '49's...we were offered a '49 Plymouth for free from a buddy of my husbands. It's clean, but it is a 4 door. :( He is losing his storage space and we have to come get it before Oct. 1. Not sure if we're gonna do it, what do you guys think?

For free? Go for it! I had a good time just cruising around in XL's that night we took it out. It's not fast but still fun in a cruiser sort of way.

Like my buddy used to say when we'd cruise around in his Spitfire. "HARUMPH! Bloody hell, old man! We don't NEED to go fast!"

And he was right... both of us are over 6 feet tall, and if you sit up straight with the top down, the windscreen might as well not be there... It was weird sight, so we were told..

But we'd pull into the cruise spot in Niagara Falls - an old A&W drive in - and the owner would make a much nicer car (IMO) move and give us the spot right up front.. It always got attention wherever we went.

As for the free 49, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I'd even spend the money to go get it and pay the taxes and customs fess to get it over the border..

I suppose driving around spouting British slang would be some kind of fun :D I know I would have a good time doing it but I'm a dork.

Wow, guess we'd better go hook up the car hauler. :shifty:

The only thing we hesitated about is the fact that we already have a Duster, Dart, and are doing a Challenger now, but heck, what's one more? :D Especially for free and in good shape. Thanks for the input guys.

Ooops, my Bad Greg! :D
Ho, the car has its original drivetrain, I believe it is a 230 straight 6, fluid-drive 3 speed semi-automatic.
Mike, you have a 6 volt battery charger I could borrow for a few days?[smilie=p: Mine is 12 only, and I don't wanna boil the old girls guts out. :D

I'll go you one better than that - I've got a fully charged six volt in the 55 Savoy that you can borrow for the weekend.
We'll put yours on charge.
