Just got through looking at the Imperial. Got that "must have one" tingle.

The daily driver is starting to get on my nerves and a mint 83 Imperial looks mighty tasty. I'm a resto nut, but for an every day driver, I would probably yank that 150! (how did they manage to lower a V-8 to 150 horses???) HP paperweight and replace with a nice injected crate 5.7 hemi.

Cost would be considerably less than any new V-8 car...and it would be oh so cool.

Budget already being assembled.

Yep..it sure would. I've first got to find out if it's possible.

It looks like it might be easier to get a wrecked truck and take the motor with the all-important harness.

I also have no idea what kind of situation I'm looking at as far as motor mounts, K-frame, etc.

That was a pretty cool car on that auction. I wonder how much the reserve was. The color combo was bizzarre for my taste though. The red interior was, to say the least, striking.

I've seen a lot done with the Cordobas/Miradas from that time...never seen anyone hop up an Imp from then. I think they beg to have some mods done to them. There's one in the local pick-a-part with the goofy first-edition fuel injection system in it, always thought I'd make a good sleeper.
Whatever you do, ditch the honeycomb wheels. No offence to anyone who likes them but they don't compliment that car at all.

that imp gut is the most plush comfortable stuff too..4dr at the local wrecker darker(gunmetal?) grey silver same red gut

Actually... I might not... It's looking like something that will get really expensive...I have a one car garage...and there's already a car in it.

TO farm out stuff like this (when I don't even know how to fix my carb linkage [smilie=e: ) might prove to be waaaaaaay more than a regular new car.

especially in Miami, import repair capital of florida,

Boy howdy! You said it. If there's one thing that's consistent around here it's that they are going to fuck it up. If there's a way, they will find it!

In fact, a lot of the stuff I have learned to do on my cars was because I refuse to have these idiots put their gorilla hands on my car.

I'll never forget the time I had 4:10s put in a 95 Impala SS I had (relax...I'm all better now...sold it to buy the RR [smilie=e: ) The moron decided the reluctor wasn't important....guess what happened the next time I slammed on the brakes...IN TRAFFIC??? Guess who knows how to tear down and rebuild a Branx X posi rear now?

It all depends. I think if I do a lot of the work myself I can bring the whole project in at under 20K (which would assume I can find an Imperial with a mint interior.)

Right now it hinges on three main things,

1. Finding a mint Imperial in and out (not impossible here in the land of old guys that were old even back then and could have on sitting somewhere) which should take a little while scouring the condo garages.

2. Finding the the right totalled hemi truck so I can get the motor and the harness (not too difficult)

3. Finding someplace to work for the 6 to 10 months it will take me to do this on weekends and evenings. (the hardest problem to overcome)

mmmm sounds like a good idea.

I'd do it if I knew how to get a 5.7 L without killing a new Charger.

Ahh, whatever, I'll kill it anyway.

But what to do with the carcass?
