In June 2015, Chrysler minivan sales dropped by 37% while the lower-priced Dodge fell by 40%. While many news outlets didn’t mention the primary reason, it was the closure of the Windsor Assembly Plant, which builds both, at the start of the year.
Windsor is back on-line now, pumping out 2015 minivans and soon to start making 2016s. At the same time, Windsor is reportedly either piloting, or preparing to start piloting, 2017 Chrysler minivans — which our sources have confirmed are definitely Chrysler-branded, not Dodges.
Canadians, and possibly Americans, will still be able to buy the current Dodge Caravans, coded RT, while the new vans, coded RU, are sold — at least for one year, and possibly longer, depending on how many people are attracted to the new design. (...) →
