Military codebreakers discover invasion plans!

Dr.Jass

This just in... The State of Michigan has been planning an invasion of Wisconsin for several months. Through the use of MI's underestimated, almost-forgotten "U.P." division, an elite force will penetrate deep into Wisconsin territory on 04/27, likely reaching Jefferson in the late afternoon. These highly-skilled agents will engage in pleasantries with the locals initially, but actually plan 2-3 days of merciless pillaging of the local fairgrounds of any and all tactical Mopar parts that might be present. Said spoils will then be returned to the Motor State via their heavily-defended, sorta-fast-attack vehicle.

This alleged invasion force is expected to be sporting much better footwear than the last time.

Keep your set tuned to this channel for updates. Pray for the Wisconsinites, and hope that 68R/T is well rested. :D

Why did I hear the Mission Impossible theme playing in the back of my head when I read that? :D

"Maybe if I offer temporary housing they won't find my stash" :hmmm:

Oh boy did I ever knock it out of the park today!!!

Imagine going to a swap meet and finding literally everything you need for a project in the first hour. Can't imagine it? Ask Stretchemite. It happened.

Staggering.

I didn't rob the place blind like September, but I did pretty well price-wise. Coming home with two more four-speeds and two more 8.75" center sections than I had when I left. One of those 4-speeds is an A-body close ratio with a 3.09:1 first gear. I spent more than I'd planned on stuff I didn't technically need, but that's what happens when you cut me loose at a swap meet with more money than sleep. :D

I did spend more than intended as well but less than I should have for what I got. One complete small bolt A-BODY 8 3/4 set of axles with the swank ass Chinese war helmet looking drums, a second set of small bolt A-body axles with sand blasted and painted backing plates, a blasted and painted A-body 8 3/4 axle housing. A set of early A-body pedals with the bell crank and clutch rod. And to top it off I sold my '68 big block bell housing and 143 tooth flywheel set up while I was here.
Next up, I'll pick up the car this week.
I'll post pictures when Jass and I go get it, but long story short, I've been chasing this car for around 10 years. I caught it the Monday after Easter.

What? You guys suck. I can't find anything early A body out here, or A body at all that isn't stratospherically priced.. Any swap meet around me has toy cars, license plates, and small block chevy parts. Farging Iceholes, the both of you.

And my invasion strategy worked better than planned. By keeping the invasion troops entertained and distracted by showing off my own collection of artillery, (especially the latest addition), I succeeded in retaining my own meager personal stash. On their departure they even left behind a much coveted Mopar RB electronic distributor. :giggedy:

As always is was great seeing you guys again. As you may have noticed, it's not only I, but others of the local community look forward to your visits. But my cats miss you already. :(

I also picked up the correct clutch and brake pedals for my Challenger with an over-center spring but none of the hardware or bracketry, and 14 good W-2 exhaust rockers from one vendor. I said, "Do you feel like beating yourself up on this stuff? I just don't have the energy." :D He said, "Would you go $75 for everything?" Couldn't whip out the bills quickly enough.

Stretch absolutely crushed it, though. My luck from last fall was clearly on his side this weekend, because though he spent more than he planned, he got a ton for his money. Hell, he talked one guy into a pair of free V8 torsion bars--after convincing him to drive home and get the damned things! :D Much like me back in September he walked around most of the time sorta in a daze, saying things like "I can't believe this happened" and "This kind of thing never happens" along with the occasional, "I cannot believe I got this lucky." AlloyAssdart, trust me when I tell you how many Chevy spots we passed, along with Pontiac, just to find the very-occasional Mopar part. How those guys are able to make any money at swap meets, I'll never understand. I saw at least four "rare" 400 4-bolt-main blocks, but there wasn't a single Mopar block to be found.

To be specific, 68's cats miss Stretch. I don't make much of an impression on felines, because I don't want them to like me too much. :D

At one point both of his cats were climbing on each other to sit in my lap.

I forgot about the V-8 A-Body bars. :D That guy was very cool and more than willing to help a fellow MOPAR guy. I see him there every year but haven't bought anything from him until this time. I will deal with him again. He jumped through the hoop for me. I bought the A-body 8 3/4, 2 of the A-body axles, a set of backing plates and the A-body V-8 bars from him. And yes, he did leave the show to get the bars, He came back about 2 hours later true to his word. By the time we were done dickering I got the bars for free, talked him down $50.00 on the axles and convinced him to go home and look for the small bolt Kelsey Hayes front hubs that I said I would buy the next day. Unfortunately, he couldn't find the ones he was willing to sell. He had a set with spindles and calipers & a set of hubs only. I only need the hubs. He didn't want to separate the spindles.

The guy with the sway bar was laughing to hard to say no on the front sway bar. He had $150.00 OBO on the box. It is a new unused ADCO bar for the early A-Body. He had it marked as a '68 & up. Jass looked up the part # on summit and we returned the next day. I used a line Jass came up with to buy it. I said "I'll give you $75.00 for that bar. It says $150.00 or best offer, $75.00 is my best offer so you have to take it! No changing the rules in the middle of the game you know"! He took may $75.00 laughing and I took the sway bar kit. :D :D :D

Thanks for the help on that one Jass.

As always we had a great time at the swap and a great time with 68RT. As always, I wish we could spend more time with you and JR.
Thanks for opening you house to us and taking us for the ride in the new RT. We are both looking forward to seeing you again this fall.
