Maple Leafs

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
Damn! The Leafs finally won a game!

I was beginning to wonder if they forgot how. Beat Montreal tonight, now only six out of the play-offs.

Go Leafs! (you slacking Bastards) :)

They really needed the win tonight. There's only 82 points left for them to work for....

I stopped watching that nhl thing when i realized it was full of athletes that do not play the game for the love of it, but for the love of the money.

That's one of the many reasons I quit following baseball several years ago.....that and it's boring as hell to watch:doubt:

Once I could no longer not only name all the players, but I could not name all the teams, I quit watching. 6 teams was more than enough.

That's pretty much the reason I don't watch any pro sports on TV (including that NASCAR crap if you wanna call it a sport). That and none of that stuff really interests me on TV. It's different when you're there but I still won't go see any pro stuff if I can help it.

CMT had a top 30 moments of nascar show last night that was kinda neat. The good ol days with fist fights at the finish and all.

Every now and again Speed will show a vintage NASCAR race or drags. I love watching those. They had the 1975 Daytona on two weeks ago and the 1968 Daytona was a few months ago. Great stuff!!!
And the 1971 Winternationals were aired a few months ago.

I remember them showing that stuff all the time when they changed from Speedvision to Speed. That NASCAR I like.

Vintage racing rocks. The new stuff is no better than any other "pro" sport IMO.

I actually don't mind Hockey or Baseball at the amature level. But watching millionares beat each other up on the ice is just lame.

I used to look forward to watching Olympic hockey because they actually play the game without turning it into the Roman colliseum....

But then this year they decided to put the thug (Bertuzzi) on the Canadian team so my interest waned....

I figger them getting their asses kicked so hard this year was just Karma for that decision....

Isn't Bertuzzi the one that was suspended for knocking out that other dude from behind a couple years ago?? I don't see why they let that dude back into the league:mad:

just ask jester about bertuzzi.

I think he fondled the guys go-nads

olympic hockey was great 4 years ago. This year i had no interest because i remembered something about patrick roy saying he would not play for canada if he was not #1 goalie. I was thinking it would have been an honor to be asked to play for your country and represent them in the sports war. Thats when my interest in sports dwindled alot. Cant say i watch any sport these days (unless you call nascar a sport)

Man, some of you guys have issues. :)

Millionaires or not, I'm still a Leaf fan. Tho' I'm not sure why anymore. Their work ethic seemed to dwindle away when Doug Gilmour and Mike Gartner left. They have had some incredible talent, but can't find any consistancy, certainly not enough to go deep into the play-offs.
But, like any Leaf fan, I tell myself - there's always next year. :)

Yeah, it's why we get so confused about the seasons around here... the Leafs fall in the spring..

*snicker*

I'll have to remember that one.

Could be worse - half of Sarnia roots for the Red Wings.

Well, I'm always complaining about NASCAR, but I think pro hockey is still the closest thing to real competition there is.. I went to a Ranger game in November and I had a great time... of course as a Ranger fan, I do find the Florida Panthers pathetic. But it's fun to go see the Rangers when they come here. It's HYSTERICAL to walk into the Panthers house and see nothing but blue all over the place... It's almost like watching them in the Garden!

All joking aside, it was around when Tim Horton went to New York that I stopped watching hockey. No joke. I just did a search and that was in 1970. Doesn't seem that long, but that's the truth.

Tim Horton.
Most people think of him only as the fella the coffee shops are named after.

One of the best and strongest defencemen to ever lace up a pair of skates. I'm only 41 and I can still remember him playing. 'Course being a distant cousin made us root for him.

He was what, 42, when he died? And still a valuable player.
