Mecum Auctions is presenting “the king of American muscle cars,” a rare 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible estimated to be worth $2.5 to $3 million, at its August 13-15 auction in Monterey, California.
The 1970 ’Cudawasdesigned by John Herlitz, and this particular car was his own, according to the auction house. Only 14 Hemi ’Cuda convertibles were made in 1970, nine of which had an automatic. The 27-year-old designer was presented with the car as a reward for the fine design.
The car was restored in 2002 by Cummins Restorationsand still has afactory broadcast sheet documenting its origin as an executive lease or demonstrator; it was ordered with nearly every available option and finished in triple black. (...) →
