After a single crash, with no injuries, FCA has chosen to recall around 326,000 2004-07 Jeep Libertys to replace the lower control arms — at no cost to the owner.
The problem is that the control arms could hold water, which could lead to corrosion and fractures, compromising the driver’s control. A similar recall, covering the same model years, was issued in 2012, for 347,000 Libertys in the US “salt belt,” as well as vehicles sold in Canada and other snow-prone locations.
