If ypu're going to be sleeping.......

probably the sexyest of the wagons...i love the rear shot of the eyebrowed roof
however..that is one rusty lump for a west coaster.........and i really love the heater air sucking right off the exhaust manifolds

Does anyone know what the hell he's talking about with the Hurst shifter shim not allowing 2nd gear? Perhaps I didn't read enough, but to me it sounds like an internal transmission problem with the synchros.

Also, he doesn't mention what year Roadrunner supplied the trans, but if it was pre-'76, I want nothing to do with the driveline angles or shifter position.

All that being said, there's a ton of potential in that hideous beast. Funny how "Exner at his worst" is becoming a running theme around here of late...

I'm assuming that he's talking about the shift-rod bushing, causing the 1-2 shift throw to be very sloppy. He probably has the linkage adjusted just enough to reach nuetral from 1st, but when shifting from 2nd it doesn't fully disengage 2nd gear.

That would work for me, except no Roadrunner was ever built with a shifter or linkage that used bushings... unless you count the rubber isolators used between shifter and handle on the early-'68 Inland garbage. Besides, 2nd gear is a straight pull back from first so crappy bushings or not, the problem is not with the shifter. If you can get it into first, second's a cake-walk. The problem has to be internal to the trans.

Who needs a "Pistol Grip" when you have a "Vice Grip" [smilie=f:

I honestly love that look ... would work awesome as the daily grocery getter rather than using the current hideous vans

I think I came a little! God I love early A-bodys! Wagoon or not!
