I love hot rod car abuse

Ok back on topic....here are some real cars http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlTW04qydCE"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlTW04qydCE

No brakes applied on the notchback cuda or the blown black Charga' and they were soooo sweet. If ya gotta use brakes, you ain't got the ponies so step down.

I have one I want to post, but I don't know if the system will let me. It's an inside-the-car perspective of the haze doing a burnout down roughly 1/8th mile of road. No brakes involved, either.

I've seen a few Haze videos, and there ya go! Ya got ponies - show 'em.
No outside forces needed to "add some ponies". Several years ago my oldest and his buddies used to pour 1/2 quart of oil on their crapboxes' tires to get them to rotate. No different than standing on the brakes to make rubber.

I guess my Neon falls into that category.... I can smoke 'em without the brakes applied, but it'll catch traction too fast for the thrill factor to set in.

No brakes here...until it got too close to the garage. :toot:

....and that's what we're (well only me I guess) talking about. Stomp and steer. No need to trick inertia or rolling resistance, or taking advantage of centrifugal force. Just a corral of real ponies doing what they like.

I've seen the street haze video, whew, that car is jaw droppingly brutal.
Tires on stupid bee are too old to leave 'good' marks, but it polishes rocks pretty good considering it's grandma car 3.23's. Silding around in open spaces is still fun though. :)

Nah. I'm on your side on this one.
While I admit to have enjoyed a burnout or two in my time, I really don't get it.

Maybe just some silly fun with tires that are ready to be replaced anyway? I could grin at that just for what it is.

They still got a few good feet left in 'em.....

If one can smoke the tires without the brakes on /against a wall /chained to the ground- I am more than all for it. There was a guy with a mainly stock 1970 340 Swinger 4 speed 3.91s. It had cam some headwork intake Holley and headers, and that bastage would smoke all day long - and no brakes, trees, or walls to hold it back. I thought the 440 six barrel 4 speed 4.10 I had in my old runner could smoke 'em but Greg's 340 was the roast 'em king. Like the notchback cuda in the video, but with a massive plume of rubber.

Mopey would light em white from a roll. :D
Rob R has some really nice footage of his GTX in his sig. I look forward to a taste of that power. ;)

-and that is Mo'Power. No pretense, no artificial circumstances, just some real power comin' on (or real chitty suspension). What are you going to fear more in the lane beside you - a car with the front brakes locked on or something that passes you at 50 and breaks 'em free?

My dad told me about one time when he was in his Chally, he passed a Stealth R/T doing about 80, the guy in the Stealth didn't wanna let him by, he said he stomped it to the floor and the rear tires broke loose. Gotta love torque...it was a '73 with a mostly stock 440 TNT from a '70 Imperial

Think I got the first part sorted out...now to do something about that suspension. Here I was thinking my car was all quick and fast hooking up so nice with a 383, then came the real power and the tires no longer stand a chance. Gotta love having problems like that. :D

No doubt Rob R's car is :tats: I want mine to run like that WEEEEEEE!

It occured to me that it's more about blowing off steam than anything else.:vroom:

Now here's the proper use of abuse. Ummmmm abuse.

Ummmm

Line Lok/Brakes used for hide warming.

Ooooo, I love that video! Dave Dudek did great! Showed them some HEMI tail lights.

and for the record, most of my tire warming shenanigans are done at the dragstrip, using a line-lock. I do love doing them at Milan Dragway, in front of a crowd, and the young guys yell stuff at me, and their girlfriends look pissed. hahaha. It makes my husband proud.
