I scored :shifty: a complete, running '69 318, and a 904 that needs rebuilding. Just makin it back to NJ and stuff starts falling my way again. I'm gonna put it in my Barracuda for now, anyone have a cam recommendation? I'm gonna use an early 70's 340 iron intake with a TQ, electronic ignition, and rebuild the 904 and put a shift kit in it. I also found a 8 1/4 rear from an F body with a 3.21 Sure Grip, I'm working a deal on that right now. I don't want to put crazy money into it, as this a temporary combo just soI can drive the car and have a little fun [smilie=i:

imo the stock 340 cam is a good setup for a close to stock 318 with a 4brl

TO HELL with the shift kit..just crank up the line preassure and trash the spring....you can litteraly tweek it to shift like a sledgehammer

I agree with 69.5's recommendations... leave maybe 1.5 threads showing on the line-pressure adjustment, and drop the valve body enough to dig out the accumulator spring (the big one on top of the valve body). Toss that over your shoulder and never find it.

The 340 cam is a jewel on a mild 318, but if you don't want to spend that much, get the smaller of the two Summit Racing brand cam/lifter kits listed for SBM. You'll love it.
