Im tryin to figure out, #1 if the LA series motors and the Magnum motors have different motor mounts... #2 if an LA series 360 would work in my dakota? and #3 are the j heads really good?

I know i posted in the wrong section but it started out as something else.....

This is about the only one I can answer. From the preachings of Dr.Jass, the 308 heads off the 87-92 pre-Magnum SB are apparently better than the X and J heads. If you look through the tech section and read up on older posts about SB heads, you'll usually catch a reply from him in there and why they're better.

i was told the mounts were set up differently... i just wasnt sure if this was actually true or not....

Yes they are different, the Magnum mounts bolt to the side of the block, while the LA uses the ears toward the front of block. I will show later when you get home. Schumacher makes an adapter kit to put the LA into the Dak, Pig Pen made his own set to put the 360 into his Dak

I would love to put a magnum motor in it.... but im afraid to buy one from U-pull it.... i dont know if it runs or not.... and 275 to dish out for a motor that dont run is ridiculous.... i do wanna get the a518 from on of the yards.... hopefully i can find a decent one....

I found a low milage (max 10,000 miles) 360 magnum short block around here for $25. Can't say that was skill, just dumb luck, but you can sometimes find a good deal out there.
