GTX tail panel

Well I've been farting with this thing for a couple of weeks now.
I first shot it in the orig dark textured finish that 68's came with but the M5 gray made it look really boring.So I striped that off and shot it the light textured argent.With the color of the car it really pops now.

Is that argent hard to work with? Seems like it would be easy to streak up.

the trick if you want to call it that is...lots and lots of thin coats and drying time in between then more coats so your just dusting a finish on...the more dust coats if you want to call them that the more glass beads on top ...

I'm still putting the windows back in it the tail panel is the very last thing I'll put on.

but there not really finished...I have to shoot the frosted silver on the inside of the reflected red area (pain in the ass) and mask out the letters one more time so I can shoot the black...
I should have done this years ago but I knew how much work it was going to be and couldn't justify it.
I do the car just for myself...I don't go to car shows with it I don't enter contests with it...it's for myself...I enjoy being the only one driving an almost number 1 car on the street or a very high number 2 car...the problem is that a number one car very quickly becomes a number 2 or 3 car after one summer on the street .
But that what I like to do and I have to say the old girl is lookin pretty darn good again

My 68 coronet convertible I restored years ago was a high 2 or a low 1 car and the amount of re-detailing I had to do every fall and over the winter to keep up the quality of the resto was enormous.:doubt:

I quickly discovered that this wasn't the life for me...I enjoy driving my cars and prefer them to be less than perfect...my wagon I have now is perfect for me...older repaint with war wounds, but is rust free, and looks decent....I can drive it hard and put it away wet with no remorse....[smilie=::

But you still have a beautiful car...
