Livin' my life...one gas station at a time.
Talk about timing. I've been giving BB71 some pointers about the rocker arms recently for his engine since I had already looked for and found a nice set for mine. I referred him to the place I got mine and pointed out the ones they had there (and the prices
) to pick from.
A few minutes ago got a phone call from 440Source about the Stainless rocker arms I bought from them. They told me that the manufactuer (sp?) of the rocker arms just redesigned the adjuster screws for two reasons.
1) They were a little thin where the allen wrench went in (not much metal left for the threads) because of the size of the allen slot they had chosen.
2) They have had some issues with the adjuster screws breaking when being tightened. The found them to be a bit hard which made them somewhat brittle and prone to snapping if overtorqued.
The fix was that they made the allen size smaller to allow more material for the threads and changed the heat treatment process to make the screws less hard (brittle) and at the same time gave them more toughness.
The shocker? (no not THAT shocker [smilie=2: LOL!) They wanted to know if I wanted the free set of updated replacement screws sent to the same address as the original order.
That was the first time I've ever had a company call me back and tell me their stuff was updated and just wanted to make sure I had the best stuff they had to offer without trying to sell me the "better" part.
This phone call just confirms the impression I've gotten from dealing with these guys before. They are genuinely a Mopar shop for Mopar guys first. The buisness part of it is just how they get the job done.
BTW: No, this is not a paid endorsement. However, I wouldn't turn down any SWAG if they happened to offer any though:dance:
