Fuel mileage

Stretch

Hey! There’s no easy button for a body like this!
I while back I was talking about fuel mileage in my charger. I was never really all that concerned with it before and in the 10 years or so that I have owned this car I have never checked it.

On fathers day my Dad and I went to a car show in a small town about 45 miles away and I was pleasantly surprised to learn that my 340/727/355 geared charger got 13.5 MPG.

I was thinking about putting my 323 set of gears in but I don’t think the difference that will make in mileage will be worth the effort. I also considered dropping in my 276 set but I think that may be too much of a drop in gear and just my lug the engine and hurt fuel economy. For now I think I will just enjoy the 355’s .

Good plan. 355 are a nice middle-of-the-road between torque and high speed.
The 276s would be great if you were doing more highway driving than anything else. Your top end speed would be higher than with the 355s but it'd take longer to get up there...

I'm none to sure that I want to know the rate of which the RR sucks down fuel, of course it might not be too bad if I could keep my right foot off the floorboard.
Not much chance of that happening though. :D

When I drove the Black Bitch home from Atlanta, I went through 594 gallons of gas in about 2500 miles. You really learn to appreciate 3rd gear when it's gone. :D
