Free 92 minivan....

A lady I work with might be giving me a free 92 Dodge Caravan for free. It has brand new everything but no motor. She thinks it had a V6 in it but isnt sure. What is the best motor I can get for it? I need both 4 and 6 info preferably. I figure if I'm gonna put something into it, might as well have balls [smilie=e:
 
Should be 3.3 still in 92, look on the doorjam and under the hood for data badging and stamped numbers. Unless its turboed forget about 4 cylinder motors, they just dont seem to have enough suds to make them go. After all, they are just a reliant with too much sheet metal to drag around. Free is the right price though. [smilie=e:
 
Se also says she has a phone # for a guy who has a motor for it for $250 but like I said, if I can put something better in it w/o blowing my (non existing) budget to hell...I'd rather do that. I know 69.5 loves his 2.4(?) turbo in his Caravan. lol.
 
Some mini's came with a 3.8 which is a larger cube version of the 3.3. A lot harder to find but a torquey motor.
 
you gotta' make sure the engine fits the trans.,likely as stated the 3.3 was in it,there was a big change in 90 or 91,when they went from the 3.0 to the 3.3.

My family cruised around in a 4 banger caravan, but we had to trade it in becuase there was not enough grunt power to haul all five of us kids around. We upgraded to a 3.3 [smilie=e:

3.3 is ballzy, 3.8 is nice to have. Stay away from the 3.0 as they had bad valve guides and seals and if your water pump goes it can be an all day affair to change as it is internally mounted. Don't ask me how I know.
 
being its a "90s" rig i doubt turbo as i thought 89/90 was the last year on the mini's.....but i imagine if the tranny was a 4banger then you "could" rewirer it for a turbo

or go v8..posibly good find bro...and yes 3.0=junk..but will a 3.3 bolt in in its place?

Haven't actually taken a good look at the van yet but I've driven past it a few times and the body looks mint. She say's she is using it for her X-Mas storage at the moment so as soon as she cleans it out, it's mine! [smilie=e:
 
Ok found out the van has a 3.0 in it. (blown engine) Will a 3.8 bolt in its' place? The same lady that's giving me the 92 let me use her newer Caravan to make a lunch run and it has a 3.8 in it. Me likey!!! [smilie=e: I barely hit the gas and it wanted to peel out.! [smilie=e:
