Christopher Chrouch has spotted what appears to be a Fiat version of the Mazda Miatabeing testedin the Detroit region. The car, developed in cooperation with the Japanese automaker, has already been shown in Mazda form.
 
Fiat is to use their own powertrains, with the 160-hp 1.4 turbo likely in the United States, though they could also shake things up by using the turbocharged 1.75 liter Alfa Romeo four-cylinder. The car is likely to be called the Fiat Spider (or Fiat 124 Spider) aftera classiccar, and is due for model-year 2016.
The “Fiata” or Fiat Spider is to be built in Japan by Mazda itself. An Abarth version is all but certain. The weight goal is reportedlyaround 2,200 pounds. (...) →
