Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles is recalling close to 132,000 vehicles equipped with diesel engines around the world, including 22,079 in Canada. The company wants to address an issue that could cause certain diesel engines to stall.
Well, to their credit they're admitting to the issue and trying to resolve it, unlike Ford releasing possibly the most-defective engine of all time and denying there was an issue with it until the courts forced them to pay out millions of dollars in class-action claims by 6.0L Powerstroke owners.
They need to go a step further and replace and relocate the timing disc which has had a number of failure due to the magnet glue separating from the metal timing disc. It is located at the end of the crank and you have to remove the tranny and transfer case to get at it. Very expensive for those not under warranty. Warranty covers the sensor but not the disc. Put it on the front of the engine for easier service access. I won't accept the software update on mine.
