I made these the other night using venison burger rather than beef. Also, I didn't have any chicken patties, so I thought to myself, "Self... what the hell? How about..." and I used fried eggs (broken yokes, over hard).
They were every bit as awesome, but I forgot the Golden Rule of venison burger: if you make a half-pound beef patty, it will be about one-third of a pound by the time you've cooked it even medium-rare. If you make it with venison, on the other hand, even well-done a half-pound patty weighs about .499998 of a pound. Good Lord, was I stuffed.
