Reader “patfromigh”noted that Delta Products is participating in a Department of Energy program to develop an efficient 6.6 kW bi-directional on-board charger for plug-in electric vehicles, partnering with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (along with GaNdevice maker Transphorm and Virginia Tech). The $3 million award is to support “novel designs” based on GaN power switches with a goal of over 95% energy efficiency and volume and mass that are half or less that of current designs.
