Dundee Engine, actually two plants, was originally opened in Michigan with the idea of sellingfour-cylinder engines to Hyundai and Mitsubishi. Both companies chose to build their own, and Dundee ended up, with the Caliber, Compass, and Patriotrefusing to soar in sales, under-used.
There was some questionabout the future of Dundee, witha new engine family being prepared, but it now appears that at some point between 2015 and 2019, a new engine will be launched and the current workforce will be retained. Whether this new engine is a completely new series, which FCAhas said it is working on, or a turbocharged version of the current four, is unknown. (...) →
