And Doc, I don't wanna make you feel any worse than you do, so I want to let you to know that it was a horrible day, the weather was crappy, the show cars were mostly clapped out camaros & ratty mustangs. The parts field was nothing but camaro traction bars, japanese fart cans and honda civic stereos. :liar:

Yeah, excecpt I talked to Wayne. :D

Anyhow, thanks for getting that stuff to him. What do I owe you for the "manly fold" repair and the radiator?

If I ever get injured and need a blood transfusion you're on the hook for it. I tend to prefer the al-kee-hol free stuff as I get older. :shifty:

That Dakota in the last pic was for sale by the original owner. 2007, 4.6 auto, every acc. you can name, 46,000 miles, never seen winter, stored in heated garage and wiped down and covered after every use. I have never seen a cream-puff like this. He was asking $16,000. I don't know how far off his price may be, but this thing is cleaner than ones on the showroom floor.

I just can't handle 69 mopars painted in FJ5...just looks wrong to me. I rather see that A12 car in baby turd brown. :)

I agree with you on the color, but like the saying goes, "It's his car......" And apparently, if it's the original color someone liked the color enough to order it.

Couldn't get FJ5 in 1969....was a 1970 colour. Like the colour when on a 70/71 mopar that actually could have been ordered with it. ;)

Why does this matter?

I get so sick of people constantly poking at me about the colour of my car, or the fact it's not a "real" 340 car, or the grille is wrong for that year, or the interior is wrong..... I have lost count of the times I have told people to go fuck themselves at events that are supposed to be fun and relaxing over the past couple years. I really shouldn't get so bent up over it, because it's usually coming from people who have never owned, much less finished a project, but jeez.....

Regardless of my personal feeling towards this colour, I would never go up to someone at a show and say...."Hey you know that your car never came with that colour!" I might take personal note of incorrect grilles, or other options, but keep that to myself, or one of my other OCD mopar buddies. I would still appreciate it for what it is...a well taken care of car. But in my head I would just shrug my shoulders and move on. Again as 68 says "It's his car...".

I really want to drive this hunk of shit into one of our snobbier car shows with it's bondo C pillars, saddle blanket interior, and place one of those creepy crying baby dolls under a wheel, drip pans in the appropriate places under the trans, motor, radiator, and gas tank, and put a $5.00 full length dorm door mirror under the driver's rocker panel to show off my reflective blue "Neighborhood Watch" sign floor board. Then pop the hood to let the different smokes ventilate into the atmosphere next to some tarted up candy colored something or other.. I'll screw a empty PBR can to a 2x4 and write "Made it to show" in crayon with a backwards E so I can have a trophy.

But again my question is: Whodafuks right is it to determine what's "incorrect?" Have we all become corvette guys?

I put a '71 grille in my car car because I don't like the '72 grille. I have a seat in my car that wasn't available in my car at all because I liked the combination of looks & comfort. I chose a modern Mopar blue paint colour because there were already 2 B5 blue demons in the area.... There are many reasons people do "incorrect" stuff to their playtoys.

I don't have issues with you having an opinion or even voicing it for that matter. I'm just sick to death of the fuss over what is or is not "correct." I don't like that slime green colour at all....because I think it's obnoxious...not because it doesn't "belong" on a certain year or model of car...

The baby Jeebus is weeping because your grille is wrong!

Well, perhaps someone might wanna tell Jeebus that he's gonna have bigger problems in about 30 years.... :toot:

I dunno where all the wannabe Galen Govier dudes have been coming from, tsk-tsking over what they see "incorrect" on other people's cars. I finally ended up replacing the data plate on the Demon with one off a junkyard '74 Satellite station wagon with a 400/2bbl....

....it's quite entertaining. :D

When somebody reads it, knows what it means and walks away laughing, you know they are cool..... those who get red in the face and shoot you a dirty look, not so much.

All this goes back to something I ranted about somewhere about rarity, and 1 of 8 hemi cudas because of all of the ridiculous options that make that one car worth blah de blah whatever.. I agree. Who cares? I'm just happy if the car has enough fender to rivet a tag to. That being said, I still can't stand shitty "retro" gauges and flaming shitter steering columns and.. Well, anything that reeks of a tv reality show resto job.. I like thoughtful touches in a car, like the original owner swapped some some period things around after he bought it. That fender tag is brilliant. I'd never get it tho, as I haven't memorized the options

I hate this..

Maybe that makes me a bad car guy, I can even understand the whole stanced thing and dirty south donks.. I'm just tired of seeing the same hot rod twenty times in the same field. Oh, and small block Chevys are like Assholes.. Everybody has one. I will take so much longer to study a car that somebody's left the period motor in, or at least found something interesting to put in it.. My friend's grandad had a steel 32 Ford with a Volvo B18 and three speed behind it.. Wanna see people scratch their heads? Pop the bonnet on that at a car show.

Man, I'm on a high horse again.

I like stuff that's been shuffled around.

If it's a show car intent on winning shows, then it needs to be perfect.
..and those cars are boring to me.
I AM interested in the information/research that goes into to them, but for the most part, I'm good with the body of know
edge that's out there. However, I'll sponge off what's been collected and made available.

I walk through car shows pretty quickly. What stops me is people and cars that are interesting because they are different.

All that said, there are some things that when not correct are irksome to me. Especially when it's something that a shop has on display to drum up business. I see a 69 Charger at MOPARFest every year with silver hood hinges on a black car. Not raw metal. Silver. They should be body colour. I don't say anything, but I wouldn't give them my business.

Someone doing their own thing with their own car? Go for it.
I may or may not like the result, but I don't like cauliflower. That doesn't mean no one else can like cauliflower.

Regardless of if I note incorrect colours, or options, I really don't care to be honest...more of a curiosity thing. I have my personal preferences, and so do we all, but you can tell by looking at most cars the type of vehicle the owner is trying to go for...modified, stock, cruiser etc. I appreciate most vehicles, regardless of make, model or option list, it's great to just see old iron still being kept on the road.

And Yes baby Cheesuss hates your grille. ;)

Now that is friggin brilliant....love it! :D :bwuhaha: See I would be the guy who read the tag, then laughed my ass off knowing why you did it.....
