John Parker knows it’s pretty easy to get people to turn their noses up at his lovely 1970 Pontiac GTO.
All he has to do is park it next to his 1978 Datsun station wagon.

Once again proving that variety is not only the spice of life, it is the magic of the collector car hobby, Parker has found himself a car hobby prize that might be unlike anything hiding in barns, garages and backyards from coast to coast.

Even after owning the little hauler for more than four years, Parker can hardly believe it when he gets in the Datsun for a short joyride or gathering of collector vehicles.

if it had been an OLDER dotty wagon it would be something to look at..by 78 the faces had made them ugly..they had started going "80's" on them...while in 78 toyota was still long in the tooth but still had the curves and lines to make them still look good

Neat story. I was surprised that these early Datsun's, and Honda's are starting to get quite a following here locally. There are some really clean examples that people are starting to bring to car shows.

I briefly owned a '78 510 sedan. One of the biggest piles of shit I've ever owned.
6 years old when I bought it (cheap), it burned oil badly, had a LOT of rust and was sooooo gutless it wasn't funny. IIRC, I traded it for a case of beer and felt guilty about getting the better of the deal.
