This is a brief recap of how my family became a part of the “AMC Family” and how my wife’s love for one particular automobile inspired her to hold onto the car for nearly 40 years.

The story of my wife, Linda, and her 1974 Javelin actually began in April 1974, when my parents bought my younger sister, Debbie, a brand new 1974 Javelin for her 16th birthday from Hooker AMC in Sherman, Texas, which is about 75 miles from our home in Paris, Texas. Hooker AMC was co-owned by brothers A. R. Hooker and Howard C. Hooker.

Such a shame you don't see more of these. I saw a few at the Dream Cruise in Michigan but, other than that, they have been few and far between.

if youve never seen this color in person..its a beauty...its like panther pink crossed with plum crazy....and...after squirting a 73 chally in it with a white top...GOD why didnt mopar adopt this color..that car was a jawdropper with the black/white gut

Such a shame you don't see more of these.

There's a red one w/360 auto a quarter mile up the road from me, so during the summer I see one quite often.

The story behind the restoration of this one is interesting and all too familar. It would've been nice if it told a little about the mechanicals. :huh:

I think that body style is a tough one....you either love 'em or hate 'em. ;) Me I'm not a fan of them...but that is a georgous car, and a looks to be a top notch resto! Be nice to hear about the mechanical side....I agree 68, and maybe an interior shot or two.

Looks like a very well done job. Love the colour.

I like the car but I could never quite reconcile those big front fender bulges... they look out of place to me.

But, I sure wouldn't mind owning it. :)

Like the early Javelins & AMX.

Don't care for these.

That colour is rather obnoxious. Not sure if I think that's a good thing, or a bad thing. :D

How about a blend of early & late AMX? Here's the '71 prototype AMX;

Doc missed out on seeing this in person when I showed him the rest of the owners herd. I did the motor in this for him about 15 years ago.
