Car of the Week: 1969 Pontiac Bonneville

Seen the car many times, as it lives only 5 miles from me. It is nicely preserved. I've had a couple of Poncho's over the years but they never really "lifted my lever". As for GM cars I would rate Poncho's at a 3rd best. Buick at the top, then a tie between Olds & Caddy and Chevy at the bottom. Poncho never seemed to develope much new technology. The 428 in this 'vert is based on an engine that orignated in 1955. :dgt: The GM turbo 400 trans is an OK trans but personally I think they should have stayed with the 4spd Hydra-matic.

Nice, bet it looks much better with the top down.
My uncle Mickey had Pontiacs throughout his whole driving life, save for the 78 LTD POS he bought before he passed in '79. His last Poncho was a 69 Parisienne hardtop. The wind noise was incredible, and the super-touchy power discs would launch you through the windshield if applied too hard. The Endura front section was shrunk and cracked on his original paint car, but there was zero rust on it when he dealt it for the Ford. As kids, we loved it when he accelerated and coasted as we stood on the front seat (!!!!!!), we'd rock back and forth, back and forth....grinning like the idiot kids we were. :)
It came with a 350 Chev 2 bll engine, a Canadian Pontiac thing.
