I was pretty much like any other kid born lucky enough to sort out his teenage years in the 1950s. We were fascinated with automobiles, and the cars of that age were going through an amazing metamorphosis of re-design that was exciting and fantastic. Designers and engineers were collaborating to re-imagine the bulbous styling and wallowing performance of the ’40s cars and transform them in a rocket-inspired flurry that took us by surprise in year-after-year revelations.

We could hardly wait for each new year’s car designs to be unveiled at the local dealerships. And the dealers themselves did what they could to encourage this frenzy by covering up the new models every autumn as they arrived and keeping them behind whitewashed showroom windows until the official announcement date. We would literally count down the days to the new-model car introductions, and even try to peek through the shop windows of the dealerships beforehand to catch just a glimpse.

i have a love hate with these cars
the headlight buckets shouldnt be an "outline of chrome but a chrome pocket
the big block at the end of the hood line should have something "nice" at the end of it
antenas breaking up the fins...ugh
the grill has always felt boring..like it wasnt made for the car and was an afeter thought
same can be said of the turn signal pods..they wrap the face but tie into nothing
the mirrors look cheep....they should be more "stylish" and complimentery..like a late 50s edsel mirror...look it up youll see what i mean

Me too, but for different reasons. I don't car for the humongous size or their gawdy looks, but the mechanical engineering is mind blowing. As per Chryslers norm, every mechanical part, from the radiator to the tail-pipe, is designed to extract maximum performance. And to withstand rigorous amounts of said performance.

One of the best looking finned cars ever built!

How much do I love the 300C? Built this a few years ago...

i think overall it would look beter as a wagon...as the trunk is just too long or looks that way....they are a marvel of enginering..but the "finish" of both the body and the gut are lacking alot for me...dont get me wrong..i quite love the body..it just needs to be finished

Love the rear 3/4 view, which for some reason they don't show in the article..... Not sold on the front end.

Overall I would be happier with a '55.
