Calling all model builders.....

68R/T

I got drunk and swallowed my teeth, now
After years of searching egouge for a 68 Coronet ragtop model, I've finally aquired one without having to remortgage my house. The sad part is, it's not complete plus the fact that I can't do models worth a crap.

What I'm asking for is someone with the patience and experience to finish this to the quality that I wanted my car.

The 68 model consists of the body, interior and floorpan w/axles. And a hood that someone cut for a blower. :(

I also have the remains of a 69 Coronet that I attempted to do a number of years ago. After a couple of years of looking at the hardtop, I took a hacksaw to the roof. Over the course of the next few years the hood disappeared. [smilie=l:

If anyone is willing to take on the project of building me a "show quality" model, speak up, I will cover all expenses and gladly pay for the skills that I don't have. [smilie=e:

[smilie=e: DOH, I forgot to post a pic of what I've got. If it's necessary to get a good hood, I would be willing to buy another 69 model kit just to get the hood.

done it befor ..a clone of my EX's dads 69RR anyone that saw it said all it was missing was keys.....its a nice break from doing things from scratch...ie being given a project instead of makeing it up as ya go LOL also got ALOT of spare parts( 3 48 clear plastic drawer craft type..thats just the sorted stuff)

by looking at that kit its going to need a amt 68 gtx doner for the frame and suspension parts and proly everything else short of body grill and bumpers [smilie=e: (real killer detail) some visors from somethiing...ods are a gm vert maxrat comes to mind
ive not seen your car recently how "stock" is it?

Prolly built a couple dozen models as a young lad but have since lost the patience or desire. In fact I have a 71 RR model that I started to build some years back, it's still in pieces... [smilie=e:

lol i got LOTS of unfinished ones but there useualy missing the detail i want or have come back apart due to a "new" idea...i can submit some of my finished's if ya like but by the looks of things your going to need atleast 1 good parts car for it LOL do you by chance know if its AMT/mpc or revele/monogram ...looks amt...sometimes there are minor fitment issues when kitbashing older amt's with newer revele's

It shows up at the top of web page every so often.

The only non-stock features are the wheels, valve covers and I have a "mild" custom cloth interior.

I would include detailed pics of my car.

ahhh b5 blue ? with black steel centerlines?..or the white and red? on craggers(btw real cragers for models arnt cheep)course its always a more "correct" model if your useing actual reminant paint from when the real car was painted as long as you dont have anything totaly odd or imposible to model that parts can be had...aluminum valve covers dont exist to my knowladge for mopar models and a realistic six pack is hard to come by

They're Cragars painted flat black w/trim rings and spinners.

(paint was cheaper than new wheels)...plus, I've gotten to really like the look. [smilie=e:

the spiners could pose a problem...especialy if there crager spiners..got any left over b5 from the paint job?.....if not ive got a lil definatly would love to do it would be a killer break from my "normal" [smilie=e: model building if you can call it normal...i dont build box stock lol
might i sugjest also a testors? clear hard case there real nice for shipping and storage

I've got a very small amout of the paint left, it's base/clear urethane. It would be easier to get a pint of enamel mixed at the local NAPA. The spinners are aftermarket with a pentastar sticker;

I saw that Hemi R/T....$75k opening bid. [smilie=e: Nice car though.

When the pic was taken I had just switched to 275/60 x 15's on the back and still had 14's on the front, but have since put 225/60 x 15 on the front.

i know the tires needed for it but im unshure if there availible and i know there not bfg's...i think there goodyears those rears come from a 53 ford flip nose...exact same tires i used on the 69 rr i did lol course tires can be...worked around if need be...if you would like i can hit the local hobby sho and see what the have for extra parts as theres some modlers that work there and put there kit bashings in bags and sell em not to mention they stock a HUGE selection of "aftermarket" stuff one things for shure that model you have is going to need a B-body doner for suspension floor pan and likely the interior tub as well tires will be the real question....you dont have anything strange in the int or under the hood do ya?

The suspension, floor pan and interior are there for both the 68 and the "donor" 69 hardtop. In fact, the 69 interior is closer to what I have. The 68 has a console, 69 and my car, no console. The pattern of the seats on the 69 are much closer to the pattern in my car.

As small as the lettering is on these wheels is, the brand isn't THAT important.

The only difference between the 69 underhood and my car is the air cleaner. The 69 shows a "Six-pack" cleaner and I have a stock "wrinkle black" round cleaner....and wrinkle black M/T covers.

i like the steel bodied models ..they are better then the plastic stuff
BAH plastic is ALOT easyer to work with when your modding the hell out of it steel bodied models are for looking at not building :P

i realize you have a doner car my consern is how new it is...if its to old it will lack the good detail in the suspension(dont even get me started on that metal axle crap) wich wil require twice as much work for half as much quality within the last 6 years they have started doing HUGE deatiled retoolings of old models befor then alot of it was junk as far as suspension and innerfenders and such goes

in the morning i will snap a few shots of what im talking about as ive got some highly dteailed front ends for a few unfinished A-bodys would snap em tonight but the wifes half asleep so i cant get to that half of the collection

Here's a complete donor kit............ [smilie=s: [smilie=e:
