I ordered a rebuild kit for the 833, just got it and there's no synchros in it.

Somebody please tell me how that makes sense.

Thanks for all the snap rings I don't need because I can reuse the old ones.

Just like the carb kit I got recently without an accelerator pump. Well you didnt tell us you wanted THAT too- its extra. How bad are your synchros?

I've never rebuilt one before, and had no idea that synchros are extra. With a carb kit I'd be PO'd if it didn't come with an accelerator pump. That's just dumb.

As to what shape they're in now, I dunno, was waiting on the kit before tearing the trans down. What's the use of taking the thing apart but leaving used wear parts in it though? Just doesn't make sense to me, and I've got no problem paying for them but they should be in the kit, bottom line.

Now it's gonna either be leave what's in there in there, or order the synchros and wait another week. I'm just disgusted.

I hear ya man. How does it shift? The pts that wear the most are usually the input bearing and front main shaft bearing. If you plan on doing alot of speed shifting you can *crash box* the synchro rings by removing every other tooth. Not reccomended for street use. Those snap rings could be different thicknesses to help set up end play too. If youve never had one apart you should read up first, they are simple boxes.

Yeah, I've gotta print off what I need to know from the FSM and read along as I go. :)

It shifts OK, but I sure as hell never want to take it apart again, which is why I bought the whole kit. Otherwise I'd have just slammed it back in and kissed it goodbye.

I'm getting to the point of it being a toss up of which car is gonna hit the car corral at the Nats - the Dart or the GTX.

Bob,there's about 14 different 833 rebuild kits and they all lack something,,most just include rollpins, roller bearing's and clips, and a few seals, get the MP brass syncros or call jamie passon,he's the tops for parts,he'll sell you a used clip to save you a buck, if that's all you need,or he has everything,........great guy ! I think his web is www.passonperformance.com

That's where I got the rebuild kit :(

I'm holding out hope that the synchros are OK, but knowing my luck and that car, there's not a snowball's chance

OK, spent my evening outside cussing that transmission, but found out that the syncros are OK.

I've got a problem with the front synchro clutch drum thingamajig. The spring's messed up, maybe because the snap ring was broken in two.

Anyway, what's the hot tip for getting that off the main shaft? FSM says remove the snap ring and slide it off. Fat chance..

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

So I just prop the thing up and drive the shaft out of it?

Cool.

Rebulding 4-speeds like front-end work seems to be my kinda job, since I get to work on a car with a hammer. [smilie=e:
