chit like this shouldn't happen to good folks.

I'm not really a praying man, but Barney's in my thoughts and I'm pulling for him. Really good to hear the doc's think there's no serious internal organ injuries, bones heal, livers don't. :(

Dang Beep, that's horrible news !! Hang Tough, he'll be OK...broken bones heal. Relieved to hear that there wasn't any organ damage.....a small silver lining in an otherwise dark cloud.....

Even though I'm new here I hope you'll accept my sympathies as well. I've had a friend in a bad spot like this before (he got run over by his '67 Power Wagon club cab on 44"s while he was working under it) but I haven't had to deal with anything like this in my own family. My friend got better after a legnthy recouperation and I pray for the same happy ending for you and your brother [smilie=e:.

[smilie=e: Hang in there Beep. I'm too far away to physically help, but Barney and your family are in our prayers.

Update:

He is making good progress says the Docs. They are pleased with his progress. He looks better today, has some color now and he shows signs of being aware of our presence. He blinked one eye slightly for his wife and lifted a hand to my sisters touch. The Doc also reported that he moved his toes.

They also loosened pressure on the strap thats holding his pelvis together to control internal bleeding and so far so good. [smilie=e:
His left leg is broke in 2 places and the broken ribs are intact. Thankfully his spine is ok except for a fractured tailbone. Thats a miracle in itself as the lift landed on his back. He is a well padded big fella and that worked in his favor it appears.

Also learned more details on what took place at the time of the accident. This happened at a local grocery store and the quick thinking of others saved his life. They are doing construction at the store and one of the workers saw it land on him and dialed 911. One of the store workers that knows him lept onto another forklift and got it off him. They estimate he was under it for about 3 minutes. He was not breathing while trapped but once they got the lift truck off from him he started breathing again.
Also a surgeon from the hospital was grocery shopping at the time and was on the scene to help.

He was lucky to have it happen so close to medical help as he travels all over the state to work on these things and some of the places are in the middle of nowhere in relation to good medical care. The doc told us flat out if not for the quick reactions of others and his proximity to the medical center we would have lost him. Scary sh*t right there.

Really looking forward to be able to communicate with him but it will be a few days before he will have any idea whats going on. With the severity of his pelvis injuries they want to keep him as immobile as possible.
He will have to deal with much reconstuctive surgery in the coming months and physical therapy.

Keep those thoughts and prayers coming, it seems to be helping.

Really can't thank you all enough for your kind words.
Awesome group of people here. [smilie=::

Beeper, that is good to hear. In no time he will be bouncing around, flogging avon and breaking Chevvies. We are all concerned, and appreciate the update. Oh, and get on MSN, k?

That is great news, here's praying [smilie=e: that he continues a fast recovery.

Sounds like the odds were on his side with a doctor on site and the machine being lifted off so soon. One of the good things about living in this day and age is the medical people are able to do amazing things given the right equipment and time frame. Our county commissioner was crushed in a fork lift accident and was home a week later driving truck so anything is possible.Keep thinkin good thoughts-I am. [smilie=e: [smilie=e:
