You may be wondering if you can cut back on car expenses. The good news is that there are some hacks you can use to lower your costs as a driver. Here are some of the most common.

lol drive something old thats cheep indestructable and sips fuel
love the wifes 07 yaris, its got the spunk of a turbo k car and is light as hell....30-40mpg

We just bought a '21 VW Jetta. The '17 Nissan was a lease, and its' time was up.
The Nissan was good on gas, though the 2.0L was a bit of a slug unless you really put your foot in it.
The Jetta, though... the 1.4L turbo feels like a rocket! Even the intitial off the line feel is very peppy, and the mileage is much better than the Nissan.
Of course, the VW feels much more substantial then most everything we test drove... there's nothing like quality Euro cars! :)
Interestingly enough, the monthly insurance premiums dropped $30/month.

Finance payments are more than the monthly lease payments. :(

But, I don't think we'll be doing our own maintainence on the VW. I doubt most people are even remotely capable of doing that anymore...

depends on the engine really more than anything

this lil 07 yaris she bought new before we met, and quite honestly the things build better than most new cars ive been around and worked on, and yet, its as simple as a 70s corolla..all the way down to having a timing chain

average life span on them is into the 400,000 mile club..weve run 169k kilometers

still pisses me off that when she moved down here..she managed 41mpg fully loaded and hauling a HF 4x8 trailer fully loaded down..i cant pull bettter than a 38 on my bike!
