Approval Sought for Self-Driving Car With no Steering Wheel, Pedals

I'm sure that even though a major, quality manufacturer like Toyota can't figure out how to make their lane-departure sensors not freak out in snow, this unproven, unknown upstart company's fully-autonomous car will work out just fine. I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
Those of you in rural areas, much like myself, will certainly revel in silent joy at self-driving cars that simply stopped on the road, completely stuck, because the owner was trying to go where Google and Apple maps have not yet ventured (or, like some pre-2011 Chrysler navigations systems, a contract was not renewed so the map information is 10 years out of date and non-updateable):
"Everything OK?"
"Not unless you have manual controls for this f%&*#ing car."
Maybe they'll have autonomous roadside assistance too.
