anyone upgrate to windows SP

SP? Service Pack? What OS?

Vike upgraded to XP SP2, and it hosed his PC. Our IT people warned us away from it. So, if that's what you're thinking about doing, don't. :)

Plain old XP is OK, that's what's on this machine.

My HP computer at home keeps telling me to down load it but after what happened to Vik I'm kinda leary to try it.

you's talking about the security upgrade? if so, I did and sorta wish I didn't. It has it's own virus/firewall, but if you have one it gets in the way. I wouldn't if ya haven't.

I did it. Worked excellent for 4 days.....then froze tighter than a nuns...puuuuurse, yeah, thats it!

I was leary of it at first, but now have been using it since early august Without problems. If you have any spyware on your machine when you load SP2, its going to crash. If you are unsure if you have spys loaded, or if your machine is unstable now, such as BSOD's and errors, Don't load SP2.

Yeah that's a pain in the ass. I don't have a firewall as I let the router do it but so far it hasn't interferred with Norton Corporate.

good to hear Shane. it hasn't interfeered with my Nortons either, but they should let you know what exactally it is that you're updating.

First make a total backup, burn everything on DVD/CD
and then start playing with that SPII if you wish... [smilie=s:

I installed it and I couldn't get Outlook Express to get out to the mail server! [smilie=n:
Uninstalled it. I've been running XP home for years without a hitch so screw the patch. [smilie=e:
I do have a copy of XP pro corporate version with the SP2 on it and I'm backing everything up on dvd so I may wipe it and try that.

One thing about SP2, There is no more xp home and xp pro. Its all just windows XP.

Bill friggin Gates can take a flyin leap as far as Im concerned.Im lookin into mac stuff now.

I made it through the upgrade on 3 PCs with no issues.

Same on 3pc and a laptop here. Just clear all spyware and do a virus scan first!!!

Had 2 pcs on xp home and 1 on xp pro and laptop on xp pro.

If you have a HP computer your supposed to download one of theyre drivers first then it's supposed to work without problems.
