dodgedifferent2

hung like a stud field mouse and
get rust off of polished aluminum or maybe it is chrome?or is it even posible?

got a bike for cheap and goin to clean it up then sell it ...make a lil somn outa it

Try rubbing the rust with the shiny side of aluminum foil, soaked in wd40

If it's a bicycle and it's got large rust on it, you might want to make sure the frame's still solid. I'm presuming it's a garage sale deal, so it probably wasn't made of the best metal to begin with and spent time out in the weather.

wells its brown rust....frame on the bicyle is solid its just the back rim that is close to being rustycudas original car color.

Hate to throw a commercial at ya, but check out the pictures at

They do a bike wheel in one of their before and after galleries.

I've used this stuff and am ready to order up some more. It works.

Rusty back wheel ... is it a Murray or a Huffy? :)

I've thought about buying up yard sale bikes for resale, I've even got all the specialty tools to work on them. But I'm too damn lazy to get up early enough to get the good deals. :)

well i went to crappy tie ....and was looking around to see what i could find ....and i ran into this stuff so i came home and started playing with the rim it only cost me 3.99 so i thought its worth a shot .......i grabbed some green scrub pads outa my kitchen and went to work ...it is actually coming back shiny....its pretty good ..but your stuff is probably more powerful.... basic principle is phosphoric acid...my fingers are a bit sore but i am sure it will come out ok not done yet but i needed a break! as for yard sale bikes i can never find one for a good deal like this.....like hmmm $2 all it needs is a little TLC and it will look like new! probably get 20 bucks outa it

That's the beauty of the stuff I mentioned - there is no acid in it.

I did all my rust removal work with bare hands and I never needed a scrub pad. Just soak in the stuff and Bob's yer uncle.

It's designed to eat only rust and not anything else.
I soaked parts with rubber hoses still attached. It actually cleaned up the hose too but didn't do any damage...

The only thing I'd be careful with is spring metal. It works fine but hose the piece off and let it dry before you really handle it.

It might have just been the lower temperature from sitting in the bath, but I pulled my seat tension spring out and immediately tried wiping it clean with a rag by twisting the rag around the spring - Well I snapped the spring in two places.
I did the same with one of the clips from the headlight actuator bracket, but I left one alone and it's fine now..

I got a little uneasy with this part too. [smilie=e:

well the stuff i used as labelled above did a nice job with sos pads.....but i had to use the mothers chrome polish thingy afterwards....it came out pretty good....woulda been better if i cared a little more. [smilie=e:
