Another 62, this time a Plymouth

Doesn't look too bad - for a 4 door. Seems like I remember @restoman had a 4-door race car at one point.

I don't know what the exhaust got too close to and caused them to mount that muffler all wonky

I would think you could unclamp the tail pipe, hold it where it needs to be and straighten the muffler up. Too hard to do I guess.

I saw the angle of the muffler in the first side view of the car and thought, "We're done here." I'm sure there's plenty more to scare me, but anyone that thinks that kind of butchery is acceptable will let anything pass.

Scrolling further down the page revealed a link to this gem.

For a few extra bones, one gets a gen-you-wine 383 Golden Commando 4-speed car (now with a 400 automatic, I think--the seller seems to think putting a 400 crank in a 383 block makes a 400). Far more attractive, seemingly better executed, and displaying a correct door count. It really only needs to have a 4-speed reinstalled (the pedals are still in it) and something--anything--done about those wheels (just paint 'em body color, even). I don't know that I'd drop that much on a car of this era, but the extra eight grand for this seems an easy choice over the car Aunt Beatrice left to Dumb Garlits.

As we know I love steelies and dog dish caps but the tire choice looks like 225/85/15 truck tires! And then the 70's caps just don't suit the car. I'd rather see just chrome lug nuts than those caps on that car....and a nice set of RWL tires in a 225/70/15 would look great!

Gloss black would be an improvement over the current flat paint on the wheels, but the car would've come with body-colored wheels, and to me that's what looks best. I'm not much a fan of the pre-'69 dog dishes, honestly, but the blank 1976 van caps currently on it wouldn't be my choice either. The reproduction wannabe Torq-Thrusts on the four-door don't thrill me, either. The last place I knew that made accurate Torq-Thrusts was PS Vintage Wheels, but Coker bought them and discontinued a bunch of cool stuff, including those and correct Minilite repros.

I'm not sure what I'll do with my '68 Valiant, because it came with a full set of the '68 Plymouth caps on it, and I don't particularly like them. I much prefer the '69-'74 "P L Y M O U T H D I V I S I O N" dog dishes (and I have a set earmarked for the '69), but people are outta their fargin' minds when it comes to those. I'll probably use the '68s simply because I already have them... on body-colored wheels, of course!

When you aren't sure how to do something and make it look right, refer to the originals. They paid people to design those.

Having said that ... my prior gTx with cop wheels and chrome lugs.

I don't know why I never got the idea to put rally caps on those. I know why I never really considered the correct dishes for it - just like now they were stupid expensive in 2007 too.

Gina still pines over that car LOL
