After six years

restoman

The paint fumes have cleared so I'm
sitting outside, patiently waiting while other cars jumped the repair line ahead of her, my now very rusty 69 Dart got her own spot inside the shop.
The landlord did some driveway/parking lot paving in the last couple weeks, giving me an excuse to move some shit around and get a little better organized. That and the fact that the 56 Lincoln sitting inside for a year (due to the owner's lack of funds & motivation) is heading elsewhere for long term storage, means there was room for old Betsy.
This morning we moved the 68 Vette frame outside, B body victim's 65 Chevy truck, and the Lincoln both went out too.
A lot of sweeping and sorting, grunting and groaning, whining and bitching and the Dart resides inside where I can (hopefully) get to work on her.
I've got big plans for it - 340, 700R4, big front discs, big rear drums, 391 8.75 SG, A/C, shaved handles and emblems, lots of subtle customizing tricks, six pack style hood, original white bucket interior, custom dash, two tone Orange & Black pearl coats, ... I'd like to lower it, depending on whether or not the tti headers scrape.
A lot of the parts are waiting, some I haven't gotten, and some still to be decided upon. And LOTS of body work.
It should look like my avatar. Should I say.

Now it's time to relax, my frickin' knees and back are a hurting.
:bravo:

...700R4...
:(

Glad to hear she's finally indoors and will get some attention. Sounds like a great plan you've got, other than the hand-grenade transmission. I know, I know... it fits without the major surgery the A518 requires, and the conversion unit is beefed. I just don't like the GM stuff... particularly when the 700R4 is one of GM's least-reliable transmissions in stock form.

Weird that a guy who's hacking up an '81 LeBaron to put a non-factory drivetrain, suspension, etc. in it would act the purist, ain't it? :D

Doc, I'm actually looking at a TCI tranny, if I can swing the $$$.
We put one behind a 400 SBC and it works sweet.

hey resto..didnt the "spare" dart fenders for/from XL's dart go to you for yours anyway?....as i recall those fenders are FACTORY radio delete .....so no antenna hole!!!

Well, I think XL and I are gonna deal on them, but for now, they're safely tucked away in ORVIL's barn. :)

i coulda swore you bought them and they were simply transported in the dart...95% positive XL wasnt the one who paid for em lol.....wonder if i still have the PM

Does that mean that XL's Charger is all buffed out and ready to go home...:p
Go home?
Where will we pile our stuff if it leaves?
We started working on it a week ago - long way to go yet.

My car is MY project. For those times when I have a few hours where I'm not doing business shit, whenever the Hell that may be.

I'm kinda embarrassed to post pics - it was a running, driving car when I bought it, now its pretty much dismantled and rusty. :(

I've got some pics, will take more this week.

Yeah, but I'm the guy who's supposed to fix them, not wreck them. :)

Poor old thing.:(

More.
I have a couple pics when it was complete, but they need to be scanned.
I've got the inner aprons, front floor pans, an excellent torsion bar crossmember and some really good rear spring boxes. The rest I can make.

Hey Mike. Nice to see that your car is finally getting some indoor space. Is that Jon's truck there beside it in the pic? They all take time, money and TLC. The hardest to find is usually the one in the middle. with time running a close second. Good luck with it.:)

Be sure to post pictures as you go along. I love seeing how this stuff is done. :)
