i can tell you that the 150 speedo was still an option ABOVE the S package as ive seen many a 120 speedo S car...one specificaly comes to mind as being damn neer a clone of this car save for the trans and was still owned by the original owner

ive never once seen a early fish tach...why is the dash green??????

why is the dash green??????
Excellent question. Green wasn't an uncommon interior option with that shade of gold (a former roommate had a '68 Plymouth Suburban so equipped) but the rest of the interior on this Barracuda is white. There weren't any white dashes, so maybe one could choose? The wheel's green as well.

For a very-brief time I had the Valiant version of this car. '66 Signet, 273/4-speed, 8¾" rear axle, disc brakes. Apparently across all non-Barracuda Valiant body styles in 1966, less than 200 were built with that drivetrain (my failing brain says 168 but I'm not sure anymore). Unfortunately, the Valiant didn't get the cool dash. On the flip side, the hardtop body style and grille of the Valiant make for a far more attractive package (especially in black). It's still owned by a friend, and if he sells it (or dies), it's scheduled to go to Our Man Stretch.

the 66 white but fish i worked on had a gold dash...your right about no white, i think the pad was black, as were the belts

your right about the valiants looking FAR FAR better...always wondered but never bothered to find out if the grills were the same

The Barracuda used an egg-crate grille pattern, while the Valiant used cleaner-looking (to me) simple horizontal slats.

By contrast, I think the 1964-'65 Barracuda grille was much better than the same-era Valiant's.

Either way, the car in the CL ad has a lot going for it. I'm not crazy about the color, but it's well-optioned and pretty original for 57 years old.
