Anyone ever R&R'd a 1998 taurus radiator?. I picked up an ex state car for $500.00 but the rad leaks bad. How do you get it out?.

Close. :D

Been awhile since I've done one...but they are a PITA for sure. Basically just start at the top and work your way down, remove the upper filler panel and loosen the fan. If I remember correctly the fan does not come out easily and may have to stay in there..:hmmm: ...I guess you'll figure that out once you get that far.
The bottom tranny line and rad hose are a fucking bitch but never fear as once you get it apart and ready to come out it won't come out easily due to the complete lack of space to allow easy removal. Some creative manuvering is needed along with a few choice words for the asshole that engineered that clusterfuck in the first place. In other words set aside at least an afternoon or perhaps a whole day including beer breaks to do the job.....:D

Thanks beep, it was dark when i got it home last night and didn't get a good look at the project.
I had one guy tell me yesterday that he took them out thru the bottom! WTF?.
It was in a low speed wreck and that cheesy fiberglass upper rad support has a couple cracks in it already and needs to be pitched anyhow but that was the road i was thinking of using too.
Labor manual says over 4 hours to R&R so a 12 pack and pint of quervo should make short work of the afternoon:cool:

Oh and do these high performance machines require premium fuel?

Out the bottom eh? Hmmm, never thought to try that. He may be correct..or not.

Also forgot to mention that the A/C condensor is bolted to the radiator further complicating the project. ;)

I'll see your radiator and raise you one transmission what with its 46 crossmembers and all. :bwuhaha:

The SHO models say they are supposed to but I've read on some SHO boards that it doesn't make a difference either way. The computer will automatically adjust the timing if it starts to ping.

Naw, that will only jamb it in there further thereby requiring one of these...:D
