84 Crewcab...AKA..Patches

Sounds like a great way to blow off some steam. I'm sure this confirmed to the wife that you are just her biggest kid! :D

Friggin rights...I have a big grin on my face and I'm giggling like a fool every time I do it....Just never gets old. :D

Holy fuck!! You know I never even looked at that. I was just doing it the way the originals were installed. It very well might have worked that way.

If I ever get another musclecar, I want T-Cow and Giowest to restore it... at least all the weatherstripping! :D

Sorry. I tried to stop myself but just couldn't.

Not lumping me into the trunk weatherstrip party are you....:finger:............:bwuhaha:

i just know all the ones ive seen always have had a lip up like the fronts...in fact your error got me wondering so i went out and looked at a front door and the back of the lloyd..guess where im getting rear striping from for my back window....

Well I have the other side to try it out on I guess. If it work out fine then I will just have to buy another set for the door I just finished. But this IS the way the factory did it. I have a spare set of doors and the seals are this way too. Funny that the factory would make a seperate part when they could have just used a right front side weather strip on the left rear door...etc.

But I have to thank you 69 for catching that...if it works then it will make life much easier for us 1st gen crewcab folks.

ahh i love the first gens..but think they would have looked better with a more "square" door top..atleast on the front doors

Actually I meant 1st gen...1st Gen cummins trucks that is. But since my crewcab technically doesn't fall within the 89-93 dodge ram window it could be a 2nd gen dodge crewcab, with a 1st gen cummins motor...Sheesh splittin hairs here....:D

Well I finally got around to installing a muffler on my truck. The straight pipe was fun for a while...but it was starting to annoy me.

Funny story on how I ended up with the muffler. I was working on the truck one day when an older couple, out for a walk around the neighborhood, stopped and asked me if my truck was a cummins. I told them "Yes it is." The man then asks me if it had a mufler...I was a little uneasy on where this line of questioning was going....did this guy have a beef with me and my straight pipe? But my fears were for not. He asks if I wanted a free muffler. He had just put a new exhaust system on his 03? Cummins and had this 4" muffler just taking up space. SO I said I was actually thinking about putting a muffler on the truck so drop it off anytime.

So that is how I ended up with this 4" muffler. It was in great shape, gave it a good cleaning and then painted it black. Then I got a couple 4" to 3" reducers and screwed them in place. Didn't want to weld it since I will eventually be going to a full 4" system and wanted to be able to re-use the muffler easily.

Anyway a couple hours and it was in. Had to redo all the exhaust hangers, but I keep enough spare exhaust parts around it cost me nothing. I'm into the whole muffler for about $50. That makes my whole exhaust from turbo to tailpipe at about $100.

I have to say that the muffler did quiet it down a little...but still has a nice deep, throaty sound. It took off a lot of the harshness the straight pipe produced. Much less drone in the cab too. And I have noticed no increase in my EGT's either.

A straight piped Cummins sounds oh so sweet.....from the outside. Inside the cab, however, especially under load, it's one of the most annoying drones ever heard. I considered straight piping my 06, then rode in one so equipped. On the 15 hour loaded trip a couple of days later, I was extremely thankful for leaving it alone. One of my pals (my age) is a construction truck driver who, for years has driven a Pete with a straight piped CAT 3406. He can't hear shit anymore.

Couple times I've drivento Oregon to see 69 and Fishy I had to wear ear plugs for the 5+ hours on the highway to get there. Then another 5+ hours to get home. Drone gets a little much after a while.

I think any straight-piped diesel sounds like someone farting through a coffee can full of nails. It's obnoxious.

Just put in a louder stereo. :shifty:

I dragged a 24' enclosed trailer to Carlisle and back with my straight piped Cummins, I'll be replacing the exhaust before I do it again! I LOVE the sound went it's loaded and I'm going through the gears, but that ends once I'm at speed. I'm thinking a 5" turbo back should do just fine! :D

Actually this muffler was not chambered. It is a straight shot through the muffler. It just has baffles and protrusions sticking out into the projected exhaust flow to help eliminate some of the resonance.

So today I painted the hood and roof. Been waiting for a time that worked for my neighbour, and his work, to let us use their wash bay to do some painting. The wash bay was anything but clean...they pressure wash industrial fiberglass pieces...so there is a ton of dust and dirtin the room. I wasn't looking for a show finish so whatever. It was dry, with heat, and a desert dry air system.

Anyway here are some pics....

Nosed in...not much room for a 22+ foot long truck...:)
