FCA US (the former Chrysler Corp.)has discovered a problem with the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango surprisingly quickly, with around 7,800 made but only around 65 sold to customers. The restare either in transit or at dealerships (around 1,800 are still awaiting inspection for international sale); these will be fixed before they move on.
FCA US is phoning customerswho have taken deliver of theproblematic SUVs, and will send personnel to inspect them on-site to see if they were built with a suspension part that was not properlyheat-treated. This could cause breakage; it was notapparent when the SUVswere built.
