5th ave question

Tugging my johnson while
Hey yall, does any one know if the M-body 80's 5th aves have the same roof line as the 80's dippy cop cars? Every 5th ave I see has the big poofy half vinyl top and was wondering if a regular dippy or gran fury roof is lurking under there.

I'm missing my old dippy cop car and was thinking of cloning something that would help me bring back memories of my youth.

I think the back fiberglass is a window plug. I believe the fifth Ave's have a small back window as opposed to their dippy brothers.

Piggy, I don't know about the 5ths or Diplomats, but if you get another car and run out of garage space, feel free to ship that Challenger over here. :)

The steel beneath is the same, as are the rear doors--they even have the glass under the padding. To my knowledge, every Fifth Avenue had that roof treatment. For the first couple of years, they were "LeBaron Fifth Avenues"; the standard LeBaron sedans had the standard Diplomat/Gran Fury roof treatment.

I've always thought the 5A to be the car to build if you wanted all the squad-car stuff and a strong engine, if for no other reason than the fact that most '80-up Dodge and Plymouth M-sedans scream "former cop car" even if they're civilian versions... and therefore people are wary of them.

I've pulled that roof off just for shits and giggles and it's pretty normal looking dippy roof underneath, 1/4 window glass and all, that rear window plug looks kinday silly with the vinyl pulled off. :D

My favorite 80's cruisers. Lots of fun with a few basic suspension upgrades, I even stuffed a big block in one, very simple swap with schumacher mounts. Love the cop car look. Here's a couple of my old Dippy's :bravo:,Ron

Man, I loved Piggy's old Diplomat cop car. We dated in both the Dippy and his Challenger, and have....uh, very good memories of both:shifty:

If you guys are looking for a squad car, I know a guy that's got two or three lying around... kind of a long drive, but maybe worth it if the price is right. He's been trying to sell them to me for a while now, but I've got no need for them or space. I believe one's a runner and the rest parts. I thought about it recently because I could put a cop front-end under the Imperial, but the front suspenders are so nice on the Imp I think it might be a downgrade.
