340 cyl heads....fresh and ported

I have a nice set of 340 J heads...2.02..speed pro valves...Isky springs and retainers (7 degree) 230 cfm intake port...

I'm taking them in trade for a set of E heads...best offer...

[smilie=e: ................must.............resist............temptation....................must.........paint............car this year.......................engine stuff.............next year...........................must.............stay..on budget.................. [smilie=E:

I gave the cyl heads back to him...I got offers of 300-400 cdn...I think he thought I was getting 1000-1200 offers and only giving him 3-4 hundred...
he has 2500 cdn in them...I reflowed an intake port and it flowed 250 ish...I'll tell him you lookin for something and you guys can work it out..(there's a ported air gap intake that fits these heads also)
I hope he sells them because he still owes me $850 [smilie=e: ..lol

$2500 in a pair of J heads??? were talking Indy kinda' stuff for that coin,,he'll be hangin' onto those for along time!I'd rust treat them while he still can!

That's how much he spent on them ...not how much he wants...if you have ever spent money on cyl heads you'll know how fast it adds up..cyl head cores...valve job $350...guides...machine for seals... spring pockets...surfaces head and intake..don't forget the porting that's a $1000... new valves...springs..locks and retainers...it adds up.
most guys want a $100 valve job and a .060 VSI washer LOL..they have no clue what a .125 seat width does to your perf. compaired to a real valve job.
I think he wants $750 but that's between who ever buys them and him...
I gave them back because I was tired of fielding E mails from kids who were looking for something for nothing...you know the kind of person who wouldn't spend a buck to see a cyclone... [smilie=e:

I would think $900CDN or less would be a swingin' deal on those... it's tough to do a quality stock rebuild with new valves, guides and springs for that number... never mind the porting.

Jass...you would think so...in the last couple of years I've had 4 sets of really nice ported sm bk cyl heads (no garbage)...always the same thing...too much $$$
I had a really nice set of X heads for $500... ported (no hack job) the whole deal (full machine work) ,fresh...same thing...I couldn't believe it...$500 cdn for complete fresh cyl heads...all I wanted was the valve job and bronze insert money...
I will not touch small block stuff any more...someone wants me to sell there sm bk stuff..I tell them to take it home.
I can sell 10 sets of ported 906's for every one set of 915's ...

Rob, maybe you could PM me some contact info for this guy... if the shipping isn't too ridiculous, I might know someone interested in these. He's doing a mild 408 stroker and the numbers sound good to me. Once I know a solid price, I'll call my friend. Maybe we can help out both guys.

Jass...his name is Russ..he's not computer savy so no E mail...I'll get his home phone # when I go back to the shop...
I'll get some pictures for you tomorrow...there nice heads...all they need is a couple of hours and they would be SPECTACULAR heads...bowls and guide bosses are really nice...cross section could be checked and short side could use a tiny bit of love...imo
But very very useable as is...

he's a nice guy..not pretentious..easy to talk to...you guys will come to a deal...
I'll ship them so they will be insured if you take them...the last set was $80.00 cdn to Cal from Manitoba. plus 20.00 worth of packing foam (that heavy yellow stuff)

Good deal. I have to work until after 9 tonight, but I can get a hold of him tomorrow evening or over the weekend. Just out of curiosity: do they have hardened exhaust seats fo no-lead?

Ummm...good question...I don't think so...they have a radius entry valve job (4 angle) I don't recall seeing new seats...
