2009 Dakota. 3.7/Auto... Thoughts?

I found for getting my old bones in and out of my Mega Cab box was a 3 step folding ladder. Made my life easier. My 15 I can just get my butt on the tail gate and then swing myself around if I don't have the step with me.

The stepstool/ladder is a good idea. Thanks....will help with scraping frost from the windshield as well.

With buggered shoulders and a crushed disc in my lower back, I would swing myself around a couple times and that would be the end of my day....

You are in a business involving wires, circuits, and voltage. Anything that doesn't fit under the tonneau or in the cab with you faces exposure to cloudbursts, etc. I think a tall topper is really the best choice. If you do any cold-weather hauling of items for immediate setup upon arrival, a couple of cheap "lighter plug"-type electric 12V heaters back there to lower the temperature differential wouldn't be a bad idea. SMD electronic boards are very vulnerable to condensation when brought in from the cold. I learned that the hard way, shorting a desktop years ago.

Yeah.

Goods often drop ship to the jobsite. Those that don't could travel in the trailer as well..

Looking at a used Leer contractor topper. Guy says they are universal to any 8' box, (except superduty - which is wider...) but I'm not so sure...

Leer has been no help...they just want to sell me a new topper.

But the local dealer is looking into it for me - plus the cost of adding a couple missing features.

Just about ready for it's first trip.

As much as I would have loved to have followed Doc Jass' advice and gotten an extra tall model, there was no way we could justify paying $4500.00 for a new topper. This was used on kijiji and cost us a third of that. It is 4" taller than the standard model however.

Appreciate all the kind help and input on this. Time to put it on the road and make some money.

Good looking rig there Nodda. Ram headlights aren't the greatest at night on low beam, so adding fogs can sometimes be as easy as a fuse, relay and switch. Some are already prewired to the front area behind the bumper. Makes a big difference.

Here's a pic of my impeller, just in case anyone is curious of what the extra nutrients that the K&N provides does to an engine...

That's good advice. I have noticed that already.

Thanks.

Dammit, it's too bad that truck isn't one year newer. As good as the '08 and earlier ones are, the '09's are head and shoulders better. MUCH more power, much better ride, quieter interior. My stone stock '09 hemi 2wd shortbed ran some rather good 1/4 mile times, and got decent mileage for a fullsize pickup truck too. It averaged over 20 mpg on most highway trips.

We looked at a 2009. Largely because I think the 2006 - 2008 rams are bug-eyed ugly, and I rather like the 2009 - up styling. The '09 was in much worse condition, despite having fewer miles. It was almost twice the price, needed tires and came from a seller we were far less comfortable with.......

.....but I liked that truck...... :helpme:

Good thing the partner was there to help me control my impulses....

In that case, you almost certainly made the right decision. I'll forever be a champion of the '09 and later ram 1500's. Pass after pass in the high 13's stock made me a believer, along with the interior quality of the truck.

Maintenance wise stick with the oem plugs in copper only. You may change a little more often but it will run better in the long run.

For good info on the Ram go to (ram forumz dot com). Leave out the spaces.
