its soooo wild looking i dig it...

am i crazy or does that genny look like it should be a baby roots blower.......

Very cool....so a 2.5L would be what...200Cu-in or so? Did you know that Toyota made a Hemi V8 back in the 80's-90's I think? Would have to do some digging to refresh my memory on that one.

Cool enough, but the front end reminds me of a catfish, or some other mud-sucker.

cow that toyota hemi dates back ALOT further as it was used in the "limo" crown (kin to a cresida) late 60's early 70's...and is quite the exotic looking engine and VERY elegant.....oddly this 2.5 looks alot like it come to think of it...the toyotoas were 182 cube i think

2.5 would be ummm 155? 160?? cube or something like that..smaller than a leaning tower of powere....302=4.6 so 2.3 would be 150

theres actualy several BADASS "early" hemi's
toyota 2.6L hemi
The Daimler 2.5liter
Ferrari 208 2 liter hemi v8
alfa romeo T33 high comp mechanical injection 32 valve 2.0 v8 270 hp!!! All be it non mas production.
and the alfa montreal(which i think came from the t33) but is 2.6

Looking at that pic, all I keep thinking about is that '80 Toyota truck up at the 40, backed by a Supra 5 speed and one hell of a rear end!! (Tubbed of course)

:vroom::gaga::drool:

nah that 80's pu is too....wrong no gimmy an early 70s one or better a 60s one......if nothing else change out the bed to a 70's unit(propper tail lights) and the highlux nose drop er in the weeds the bed would be all TUB

Thanks for the pic and info 69...didn't realize it was so small and in production for that long. Very cool looking little motor.

the toyota hemi imo has and likely always be the cutes and coolest hemi(from a looks only standpoint)....dont get me wrong...our mopar elephants are great engines but the little lost toyota is soooooo much more elegant looking

No one has ever built a Hemi other than Chrysler. It's a trademark, you know.

Other manufacturers may have copied the hemispherical chamber (very few have), but "Hemi" is a Chrysler copyright... and a spark plug wire that goes through the valve cover is no indication of a hemispherical chamber. It's just an indication of a centrally-located plug.

No one has ever built a four-valve hemispherical-head engine to my knowledge. If they have, I'd love to see the valvetrain--it's gotta be wild.

Even the "DOHC Hemi" Chrysler monkeyed with in the mid-'60s was not a Hemi--it was a pent-roof chamber. They were just capitalizing on the name.

We all know the style and the Hemi name are Mopar only. A lot of people use the Hemi name for just about any motor with a centrally located plug. It has the Hemi look.

" A Mitsubishi motor was optional, and cars so equipped for 1981 were badged as 2.6 HEMI."

It's kind of a gray area of discussion because Mopar & Mitsu were "in bed together" at the time. But, the engine was built by Mitsu but marketed by Mopar as a "Hemi"

So, techniquely, Mitsu did build a Hemi that was badged as a Hemi.

and ALL mitsu motors somewhere will say "built by mitsu for mopar" so that in the event of anything unhappy customer its still just a mitsu .......which would make it truely NOT a mopar
