Although some enjoyed the sparcely appointed cars, some still wanted some creature comforts and when the GTS concept was shown in 1993 the feedback was overwhelmingly popular giving then President of Chrysler the ammunition he needed to put the GTS into production. By 1996 they were again pacing the famous Indy 500 and another legend in the history of Viper was born.
For the first year of production, all Viper GTS’ were finished in blue with white stripes, paying homage to the Shelby Daytona coupe where it is said inspiration for the body design was taken from.
This particular 1996 Viper GTS has been collector owned since new. It retains all the plastic on the seats, steering wheels, floor mats still in bags and even the original window sticker in place on the windshield. Over the years the owners have shown incredible restraint as this car has only 797 original miles on the odometer, but as such the car remains in showroom condition throughout. Being the inaugural year for the GTS model, these cars have an element of collectability not seen the model years to follow.
