1978 New Yorker

XLR8R

exhalted master of his nuts
....I may score a 78 New Yorker for cheap tomorrow...don't know much about it, been in storage for 10 years, guy is moving car has to be gone by 3 pm tomorrow. Never know, could be a peach! :) well, as much as a 78 NYer can be. :D

Cool!

We safetied a 77 Newport today. Don't see them around anymore and this one was in very good condition.

Medium green metallic two door - ever see it around?

Yep, if it was the one that was outside Lambton auto when Geoerge owned the place..... 400 in it?

Sounds like it - very solid car. Crappy paint (I didn't do it) but it would be a nice cruiser.
The fellow we safetied it for just picked it up - 400 (lean burn), nice big exhaust, two door, 61 k. He paid $5000 for it, which seemed fair enough.

It had a tilt and telescope column that completely baffled Sean.

So its still a C body in that yr? Must be the last one or real close to it, Generous Motors and Furrrrde quit doing full size cars in 76 if I am thinking right.:shifty:

My son-in-laws grandfather scored a 77 (I think) that was all original with a 440 in it. Had every stinking option possible.
He cruised it for 2 years and sold it. The guy never even inspected the car. He walked up to him at a cruise and said, "Sell me this car , now, please..."
The first time I saw it he nearly ran me over while I was gawking at a 70 Charger. They were both rolling out of the cruise-in.

I am the envy of all 80 year old men who have limited funds. :D

The good.... it iin decent shape body wise, interior needs a few bits, but isn't as horrid as it could have been. The motor is a 400, and apparently ran very well, except for the carb issues.
The bad..... needs a carb, someone tried to rig a GM one and never got finished...the roof paint and any paint looking up is burnt. Like Dead. Like "fini". Like can Mikey do a quick and dirty job on her? :D
It has not arrived yet (he is delivering), but will sit in my 3rd bay until I figure out what is going to happen to it.

If you are going to run that smogger intake still, unscrew the egr fitting under the baseplate area and weld it shut and reinstall. Thats probably why it doesnt run right. Q-jet will work for now, just remove the GM linkage attaching stud and put a machine screw in place of it for the mopar cable end. Gut the cat and install light springs on the advance weights and it just might run decent again.:hmmm:

:naughty: Find a NON-lean-burn, elec. dist., a different ECM and a simple wire harness to tie them together.

What 68 said XL. It's not that hard to do, I think I may still have a non-lean dist for a B-block around here somewhere.
