1972 Dodge Challenger - Inquire - Old Bethpage, NY - 1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye Hardtop Coupe
Original 340ci 240hp Engine & Slap Stick Automatic Transmission
We are proud to offer this matching numbers Dodge CHALLENGER RALLYE Edition Hardtop Coupe. This car is as nice as can be with smokin hot and very rare VITAMIN C ORANGE paint and all the right striping. The Sport Hood is a factory option that was ordered with this car. In 1972, the R/T (JS23) was discontinued and renamed the Rallye Edition (JS23). The horsepower rating had supposedly dropped from 275hp to 240hp in ’72 but the bore/stroke was virtually the same as in ’71. Needless to say, the MOPAR ’72s still had plenty of power while most other carmakers had cut back on power ratings due to new insurance regulations as well as other reasons. This is a highly optioned car for its day as evident by its trim tag.
The engine is a matching numbers high performance 340ci 4barrel. The Transmission is 3speed Automatic Slap Stick mounted to the center console. Dual exhaust with chrome tips are part of the original option package on this car. This Challenger has electronic ignition and starts right up. It runs strong and drives tight and straight. It stops as it should.
The interior is in excellent condition. All features and gauges work fine. The original AM radio has been replaced by a newer unit but the optional Cassette Player and rarely seen Recorder/ Microphone option is still in tact.
The correct factory rims are on the car and the tires are 80% or better. This car needs absolutely nothing. This is a true investment Challenger that can easily be driven anywhere as well.

Pay no mind to the smaller valves and lower compression ratio behind the curtain! I am the Great and Powerful Displacement!

The hood wasn't "ordered with the car", it was standard on the JS23, as was virtually everything else on the car except the Dictaphone and Rallye wheels. It also needs a shitload of very expensive work. "Inquire" usually means he doesn't want to get a bunch of hate mail about his ridiculous asking price. This is probably a $15K car in its current condition. It's strange that it's got the late ('73-'74) seats and early ('70-'71) Rallye dash; that's not a combo I've seen often, if ever.
